Women
The Cretan women across the country began organizing chapters in their cities as early as 1930. They created a fellowship with those of common interests and language while establishing themselves in their new country.Ā They established local dance and musical groups, produced plays, published cook books and funded dance instructors for their youth.Ā Ā
Since their inception, the PAA women have supported institutions, hospitals, nursing homes, churches, schools, food banks, and raised money for scholarships. They targeted emergency relief efforts here and in Greece and helped in the distribution of medical supplies. They also supported several organizations in Crete serving orphans, challenged special needs individuals and seniors.Ā The women’s chapters continue to contribute to the many cultural progams and philanthropic projects both in the United States and in Greece.Ā Ā
